Ernest Aryeetey biography: Ernest Aryeetey is a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana born on 19th October, 1955 in Kumasi, Ghana.
Aryeetey studied at Achimota School then proceeded to Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Legon. He pursued Economics with Statistics at the University of Ghana. He took a master’s degree in Regional planning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi and attained a PhD from the University of Dortmund, Germany. He was elected Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2009.
Aryeetey previously served as a Senior Fellow and Director of the Africa Growth Initiative at the Brookings Institution, Washington, D.C. he was also the Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) of the University of Ghana, Legon from February 2003 to January, 2010.
Aryeetey is married to Ellen Bortei-Doku Aryeetey.
Aryeetey has been blessed with two children.
