Salma Kikwete biography: Salma Kikwete is an activist and political figure who served as Tanzania’s First Lady from 2005 to 2015, being the wife of the then Tanzanian President, Jakaya Kikwete.

Salma Kikwete was born on 30th November, 1963.
Salma Kikwete previously worked as a teacher before she became the First Lady of Tanzania after her husband was sworn in. In 2017, a year after her husband left office, she was appointed to a seat in the National Assembly by President John Magufuli.
Salma Kikwete is a supporter of Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
In 2009, Salma Kikwete was the Vice President of the Eastern Region of the Organization of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA). In 2012, Salma Kikwete and eleven other African figures partnered with UNESCO and UNAIDS in support of HIV prevention and Sexual Health for Young People in Eastern and Southern Africa. Salma Kikwete also came up with Women in Development (WAMA) which focused on women and children development.
Salma Kikwete got married to his husband, Jakaya Kikwete in 1989.
Salma Kikwete has been blessed with five children.
