Steve Kekana’s birth name is Tebogo Steve Kekana.

Steve Kekana attended a school for the blind in Pietersburg. He holds B Juris and LLB graduate degrees. He is an Advocate and lecturer in Labour Law at the University of South Africa.

Steve Kekana gained interest in singing at early age and joined amateur groups. His Raising My Family was a huge hit in Europe and he had recorded many more albums. He has worked with artists such as Ray Phiri and Nana Coyote.

Steve Kekana won the SABC Black Music Award for best male vocalist in 1979 and 1980.
