Arnold Theiler was born on 26th March, 1867 in Frick, Switzerland.
Arnold Theiler pursued a course in veterinary at the University of Zurich.
Arnold Theiler became the state veterinarian for he Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek during the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902. He became internationally recognized due to his integrity and energy in pioneering. He was the first Director of the Onderstepoor Veterinary Research Institute. In 1920, the University of Pretoria Faculty of Veterinary Science was established and veterinarians were able to train locally for the first time and Theiler was appointed the first dean of this faculty.
Arnold was married Emma Sophie Jegge from 1861 to 1951.
Arnold Theiler was blessed with two sons and two daughters.
Arnold Theiler died on 24th July, 1936.
