Elvis Blue was born on 28th December, 1979 in Linden, Johannesburg.
Elvis Blue’s birth name is Jan Adriaan Hoogendyk.
Elvis Blue studied at Linden High School and pursued contemporary music at Allenby Campus.
Elvis blue gained interest in music at an early age. He bought a guitar and sang on the streets of Johannesburg. He travelled overseas to London and Scotland. He recorded his first CD in 2001. He has worked with popular musicians including Karen Zoid and Heinz Winkler. He won the 6th season of Idols South Africa in 2010. Since then, he has released several albums including Elvis Blue, Journey and Afrikaans.
Elvis Blue has received numerous awards including Music Video of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Song of the Year at the 5th Annual Ghoema Awards in 2016. In 2015, he won four awards at the 5th Annual Bok Radio Awards including Album of the Year. He has also been nominated on several occasions.
Elvis Blue is married to Chireze Hoogendyk.
Elvis Blue has been blessed with two daughters named Lila and Jua.
Elvis Blue has been involved in charitable works. He is the patron of Rosebank Union Church community based outreach project Rays of Hope. In 2011, he took part in a 3-day cycle tour to raise funds for this project. He set up The Elvis Blue Music Academy that runs in George town and works on mentoring the orphaned and vulnerable children.
