George Carver Clerk biography: George Carver Clerk is a botanist from Ghana.

George Clerk was born on 29th July, 1931 in Adawso, Gold Coast.

George Clerk had his secondary education at the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Odumase-Krobo. He joined the University College of the Gold Coast and received his bachelor’s degree in botany with first class honours.

George Clerk has served as a professor and later, an emeritus professor at the University of Ghana, Legon. He is one of Ghana’s earliest practitioners of botany and is a pioneering plant pathologist in West Africa. He was inducted as a Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1973.

George Clerk is married.

George Clerk has been blessed with six children, two of whom died at an early age.
