Ras Kwame Biography


Ras Kwame biography: Ras Kwame is a musician, record producer, radio DJ and presenter from Britain but with Ghanaian roots.

Ras Kwame studied economics at City of London Polytechnic.

Ras Kwame started his music career as a club DJ before proceeding to promote for Kiss 100’s groundbreaking Starlight Club night and the Mean Fiddler’s Subterranea Club. He founded West London’s Sugar Shack record shop in 1993 and formed Baby Shack Recordings and his UK garage production outfit M-Dubs from 1994 to 2000. In 2002, he joined BBC RADIO 1Xtra. In 2005, he became one of the three OneMusic shows on BBC Radio 1. He joined Capital Xtra in 2013. Regularly, he judges Open Mic UK and Live and Unsigned.

Kwame won Best Radio DJ at the Urban Music Awards in 2004.
